STRAOUSS

View on the Cornice's entrance
Located on the place Paul Ricard (also known as the Zidane turn), Straouss is a true potential enhancer. Mixing a Street Art gallery, a place for performing as well as a brewery, the program hybrid, wrapped around a giant ramp will be the Corniche's daily culture booster. It will allow the marseillais to stimulate their minds on their way to the Vallon des Auffes.

BigStamboul ... graduation time !

Here is my graduation project. Thought for the amazing city of Istanbul, the exercise was made in two steps. The first one was to propose a new masterplan for a site of our choice, while the second one was an architectural project in the said masterplan. Reinterpreting the  past uses to make them fit to the inhabitants nowadays ones, preserving the strong historic identity of the site, and optimising the historic area of the city, BIGstamboul is a new solution to the benefit-oriented architecture that usually prevails in Turkey. From now on, the historical district won’t be only reserved to the richest people. As everybody knows, the right diversity is the key of an healthy city, and that’s just what BIGstamboul aims to achieve.

Bounce !!

Bounce is the symbol of a new life experience for each musician living in Marseille. Over there, everyone will find something to his needs. Here is another vision of the usually unattractive music conservatory, responding to the new city needs like density and program pooling. With Bounce, learning will rhymes with pleasure. Added to the conservatory, people will find a library there, an auditorium, a theater, a music bar, and student dwellings. Bounce is the symbol of the end of the «not too festive», a generous project in which the new uses are taken into account, encouraging people passionate about music to make the place bounce !!!

Alpha Venezia

Still working on Venezia, here is the second exercise we did. This time, we had to reflect on the Giudecca island, the conteporary beating heart of the city. The program was for a mixed-use building, mixed social housing, student housing, to which we could add an additional program of our choice. This empty plot of land was the pretext to experiment. According to the surrounding «modern» context, Alpha Venezia first objective was to gather people, all by providing them with new public equipments.

Il Caffè Alto

This project was made during the second semester of my fourth year, which was totally dedicated to the mythic city of Venezia.
As a program, we had to propose an architectural object for the venetian people, with a simple rule: the project had to be movable from place to place. The Caffè Alto imposes itself as THE event-oriented project, lacking to the seaside city. Revisiting the characteristic of the traditional italian musical bars, it proposes a new experience for the senses never met before.

L’ idéale Expo arrives in Le Panier district

Work in the continuity of the « Ideale Expo », with a shift in size, to reinterpret the previously created project and to insert it into a dense site, close to the old harbour of Marseille. The proposed solution emphasizes on the site without brutality, preserves the actual «living»  square by structuring it, and keeps a reasonable density by exploring the ground level.

L’ idéale Expo v 1.0 Conceptual experience

A project designed FOR ARCHITECTURE. A research on fulls and voids on the most basic shape: the square. We had to deal with this constraint, preserving the original shape and turning it into an lively architecture exhibition. Even though the building has a simple volumetric shape, it allows visitor to enjoy a particular journey through massiveness. The alternation between compressed and dilated spaces  gives rhythm by the passage of the full, closed on itself to admire the works, into the void, widely opened on the outside to take advantage at most of surrounding sights.
Conceiving this project was an opportunity, exploring how powerful simple things can be. Ornament is not the only solution !

Cubik city explosion

Cubic city explosion is a project with a multiple program, including 60 dwellings as well as a big underground market, located in Marseille. The stakes here were multiple. First of all, the site is ideally situated, at the junction of the seaside area and urban side of the city.
It was thus a question of creating a reference spot, revitalizing a space losing its dynamic, and influencing directly the life of the district.
A particular attention was carried in the conception of the housing, with a particular attention on the needs of the different inhabitants. The modular assembly allows to individualize the collective housing, which has become too impersonal in France nowadays.

J4 thermal baths

The J4 thermal baths is another of my second year projects. This time, the program consists of two internal swimming pools, an outside sea water swimming pool, a thermal baths area, and a cafeteria. The aim here was to occupy all the available plot of land, to re-evaluate a forgotten zone of the port by adding a shaded promenade suiting on the sea. This walk is punctuated with kiosks in which the fishermen can sell and prepare the fresh fish fished offshore. The plot of land of 200m long becomes a new address in the city where people can meet.

Goudes Houses

The « Goudes » Houses is a project I’ve conceived during my second year of study at the school of Architecture. It was actually the first real approach we had concerning the project, and that is why I decided to show it first in my portfolio. The program is 4 houses for classic families in a particular site of Marseille. The Goudes is a small fishermen village clamped between the sea and the mountain. It is one of the last places which has resisted the massive urbanization that the city center has known. Four houses fit into the slope, respecting the heights and the scale of the site. They are also oriented to the sea to take advantage of the views.
